Year 5 Evacuee Day October 2022
EVACUEE DAY: Wednesday 12th October
As part of the Year 5 World War 2 topic, we arranged an Evacuee Day in school to enrich the children’s learning. To help create a sense of realness as well as fun, we dressed up.
We were learning lots about the Blitz and its impact on British life. The children compared different first hand sources showing different viewpoints on the Evacuee experience. Also, we created propaganda posters to persuade parents to send their children to safety. Using drama, we explored the impact of WW2 on refugees and compared lives of the children then and now. As refugees, the children wrote a letter home.
It was a day of learning and fun.
